“Beautiful home in a beautiful location! Steps away from your own private swim in the turquoise ocean, and sunsets were gorgeous from the porch or from the lounge chairs with a sunset view next to the ocean! The home has some great features like screened - in porches and outdoor shower, as well as plenty of space, beautifully decorated. Remote location is accessible by car, but we recommend a four-wheel drive or jeep. Not able to walk to town readily, nor is there anything to walk to (stores, restaurants). Grocery stores nearby are stocked with mostly canned foods and are more like what those coming from the USA would think of as a very small convenience store, not a big grocery store. Also, keep in mind when visiting this island, that emergency medical help is not readily available, so that may be a consideration. Otherwise, Current Settlement is definitely private and not a crowded or touristy location at all. The house itself is lovely! ”

February 25th, 2023: We felt like we hit the jackpot with this house in Current. FYI, we're a family of 4 (sons 14 & 17). We love nature and are good travelers in the USA but haven't traveled much outside the US. We cook our own meals because two have celiac. Shopped at local stores; avoid the beef. We like to explore and put 400 miles on our SUV rental in 8 days. (You don't want a sedan on Getaway's road!) Went as far south as Tarpum Bay and spent several days seeing the sites of North Eleuthera. Some days we gladly stayed "home". Getaway's own beach was our favorite swimming spot of all: Spent hours each day snorkeling the rocks to the right, and enjoying the water, paddleboard and kayak. Saw thousands of small fish, a juv sea turtle, two kinds of rays, and more.  The shore is beautiful here, and the sunset view was a treat. And all ours! Glad to have wifi, generator, and laundry. Verizon was flaky. Cave was neat. New neighbors on the left, NOBODY on right. Loved it. Stay here!

Getaway was the perfect spot for our family vacation (July 2011). The house is wonderful  — clean, organized, well-equipped with every modern convenience and comfortable. The beautiful beach with its crystal clear waters was just the right size for our family. And the location provided both privacy and convenience, tucked away at the end of small road but only minutes from the centre of the friendly settlement of Current.

Some days we toured the island (Spanish Wells, Harbour Island, Preacher’s Cave, Governor’s Harbour and Current Bay Beach) and on other days we were happy to spend at Getaway – the perfect place to relax, and enjoy the sun and sea. We especially liked the large screened-in porches where we enjoyed most of our meals.
