December 15th, 2018: Wow, what a stay. Beautiful water, beautiful home, beautiful surroundings. Can't say enough good things about the Eleuthera Getaway. We were looking for somewhere to go "off the grid" for a week after a stressful work year, and could not have found a better place. We only saw one person near the property in 9 days! You can truly get the Castaway feeling.

We landed at North Eleuthera Airport, picked up our rental Jeep Wrangler, and drove over to the home. Road is pretty bumpy so you probably will want a vehicle that can handle it. Check in was seamless, and both caregivers were open and helpful. Grocery store and liquor stores are about a 30 minute drive. We brought frozen meat from the US.

As far as the home goes, Wifi worked great, we were able to stream Netflix/Hulu with zero problems. Kitchen is stocked with basically everything you need. Power went out a few times but you don't even notice. Generator automatically kicks in.

The ocean side of the home is a bit rocky, but we knew that going in. When we stayed, the beach was gone for the most part, but during low tide we had a nice little "pocket beach" down the stairs. We spent most of our time down in the pocket beach. When the weather is calm, the water is crystal clear. Even in November the water was warm!

5 Stars.

April 7th, 2024: We had a blast. Great place you have there. A bit of a shame that the new neighbors are so close. We only saw them one day.

January 30th, 2024: Restful wonderful waterfront retreat

If you like listening to waves, “Getaway” is perfect and its pocket beach is wonderful, and the sunset view is gorgeous. The kitchen is very well stocked with what’s necessary to cook meals, including condiments, spices, and herbs. Also there are movie DVDs, board games, and books. An SUV with a high ride height is recommended for navigating the dirt road. The settlement of Current is remote, which means this really is a peaceful “Getaway”. Driving a short distance farther along the main road takes you to that end of the island where there used to be activity. Park and take a pleasant isolated hike along the shore on a dirt-and-rock road around to the Cut and beyond the bend. It’s also a quick drive to the ferries to Spanish Wells or Harbour Island, which are pleasant day trips. Other than that, it’s a bit of a trek to Governor’s Harbour. We didn’t go farther south than that.
