We spent a lovely week in May 2018 at Getaway with our 2 young boys.
The place is just as the name implies, private and secluded, somewhere we could unwind.
It’s equipped with all the comforts of home, and some more that we don’t have!
There are 2 covered seating areas, one to the front and one to the rear, with the rear facing towards the sea, meaning evening times, we could enjoy the (amazing) sunsets as we ate.
There is a great bedroom overlooking the main room, which meant we could keep an eye on our eldest, and the master bedroom is huge.
The property has quite a bit of land, meaning the kids could explore the wildlife. We saw lots of lizards, a gigantic crab and even a snake.
Getaway is in the settlement of Current, which is a small community surrounded by beautiful beaches which we eagerly explored. Low tide means lots of sandbars to wade out to as well.
From Getaway we could then explore the island of Eleuthera, which is a great island with lots of places to venture to.

PROS:
- Private
- Well decorated, bright, modern & clean.
- Impeccably maintained house. Maintaining homes on Eleuthera is a challenge, we know how much work it takes.
-Kitchen well appointed for cooking.
- Nice views. Sunsets!
- Awesome bikes that are well maintained (a rare find!).
- Bathroom well supplied with soap & tissue.
CONS:
- Would be difficult for anyone mobility impaired due to steps & rocks to get into water. However there is a sand beach a 5 min bike ride away.
- Screen porch mesh is too big, so no see bugs can still get you. However to screen it in more would spoil view. It does keep out all the other sunset biters.

The beds were comfortable, the house clean and it had most anything one would need for a comfortable stay. The water a few steps away was delightful to swim in and explore. If you like off the beaten path and away from the crowds this is your place. Can’t wait to return.

The little beach beside the house was perfect for relaxing, reading, and looking out at the aqua water. The house itself is perfect for 2-4 people and kitchen had everything we needed to cook. Highly recommend

We had the most relaxing time, kids loved their little private beach, we took day trips to the local beaches and Gregory town, sand bar beach was as gorgeous as I remembered, kids didn’t want to leave their private bath tub. - we could not have asked for a better break from the city, thank you so much for opening up your home to us!
We had everything we needed, the house was perfectly stocked with all we needed and so clean, total heaven.
And now we’re back in freezing NY, but the memories will definitely keep us going for a while.

Andrea H.My wife and I spent a perfect week at the Getaway in July. The house and grounds are really neat and clean and the house has everything you could need. The island is isolated and safe and the people are friendly. We could have went the whole week without seeing another person if we would have wanted to. A beautiful location with your own private beach just like in pictures. I didn't know places like this actually existed. The owners were easy to deal with too
Kelly S.Amazing stay at the getaway, cant wait to return. Nice cozy home with all the necessary things you would need during your stay. Nice beach once you get past the outcrops,which we didn't really mind as it felt like natural beauty. Found star fish, shells, sea glass and sand dollars Snorkeling on the beach. Kayaks where fun as well. Away from it all so you can really relax and feel your stresses melt away. Aside from food and wanting to explore the island we really could have stayed right there the entire trip. The road to the property and end of drive way could use some rebuilding but will definitely not stop us from returning hopefully soon. Cant wait!
