June 19th, 2026: The Getaway was absolute perfection for a long weekend of R&R. Escaping our everyday stresses was easy to do in this peaceful landscape. This was our 4th trip to Eleuthera in the last 2 years and our 2nd time staying in Current. This time around we didn’t do any sightseeing or even rent a car. We enjoyed nature - the sun, sea, beautiful grounds and comfortable home. We used the bicycles one day to wade across the sandbars on the opposite side of Current and stop at the corner store. We’ve loved every airbnb we’ve stayed in on the island but this one might have been the best one yet due to the privacy. A family with young children were at the neighboring house and in the water one day but even then it still feels very private.

Dave: Fabulous stay. We loved being back in Current after 35 years. Tim your house is just perfect. Loved talking with Karen about the various families who still live here. Visiting with old friends. Meals on your wonderful porch. The soothing color scheme in the house. Meeting Susan in the house where we lived for a year. Talking to fishermen on the dock. Doing art with Karen’s daughter. April 5th, 2026: The Getaway is absolutely perfect for a quiet commercial-free vacation. We were looking to not be near crowds or anything touristy and it was exactly that. House was clean and comfortable. Beach was perfect for sunbathing, swimming, and paddle boarding. We had a large storm one day which knocked out power for over a day but the generator kicked on seamlessly and we never were without electricity. We also lost internet access, but Pedro was incredibly helpful in bringing in a new modem. He also continued to check the fuel and top off the generator throughout the power outage. Nothing could have been easier or more relaxing!

February 26th, 2006: Our host was very responsive as well as his two property managers. We loved the seclusion and short walk to our own beach. The water was calm and crystal clear, west facing for beautiful evening sunsets. The house had everything we needed. We pedaled bikes down to a local variety store for food, it was well stocked and very clean. Thank you!

February 20th, 2026: Homes location on the beach was exceptional. The road in is very rough but just go very slow with car and you will be fine. The home itself could use a few updates but was just fine and the views more then make up for it. We explored, preachers cave, blue hole, glass window bridge and queens bath all within 25 min drive from the home. Sunsets are amazing but be carefully of no see ums at dusk on calm days.

April 12th, 2022: Your kids will thank you for coming to the getaway… if they are anything like mine. We are an outdoor family, and have visited Eleuthera previously and will definitely return to this spot. We spent days snorkeling right at the house and saw a ray, hermit crabs, starfish and more. Also my kids caught lizards all day when we needed a break from the sun. It’s true that the bugs will get you, but maybe next time we will bring citronella candles and enjoy the screened in porches even more. We had plenty of space for our kids upstairs and us in the main bedroom, and cooked most of our meals at the house. The WiFi is great, which made test taking to get home easy. We played lots of checkers and enjoyed that the house had games and books. Timothy & the caretakers are wonderful at responding to any needs or issues. Thank you for allowing us to have such a memorable trip!

February 18th, 2019: My husband and I were looking for a quiet, private home with beach access. Getaway definitely delivered. There was a kayak, snorkeling equipment (we brought our own) beach umbrella, and bicycles for our use. Pedro, thank you for the use of your cooler. There was plenty of towels, sheets, etc. the place was so fantastic, we hated to leave, so we didn’t do as much touring as we had originally planned. We did make it to several local attractions and as far down as Sky Beach, which is a beautiful pink sand beach. Once we arrived at Getaway, we took stock of what was available at the house and then hit a grocery store and bought other staples. Be prepared to pay more for anything you buy, but you should expect that since everything is imported onto the island. We did buy produce from a couple of veggie and fruit vendors along the road. We had a lunch and dinner at Daddy Joes and dinner and take out from Seven Seas. We had a beach during low tides, but we didn’t mind as we spent our time either in the water or lounging on the beach chairs. We snorkeled right off this beach, not a huge amount of fish to see, but we did see trumpet fish, small reef fish and on our last day a manta Ray. Bugs. Didn’t see any bugs in or around the house, but the sand flies (no seemsums) are merciless. I must have hundreds of bites all over my body. Buy the strongest bug spray you can buy and use it all the time. I also suggest the largest tube of cortizone to help with the itching. I ultimately found a combination of cortisone and ice relieved some of the itching. The other caution is if you are traveling with kids, the beach area has a lot of jagged coral. This was not an issue for us. I do suggest beach shoes as it did make walking around Getaway and other spots we visited easier to explore. All in all a great week. As I mentioned earlier, we loved it so much, we didn’t tour the mid to south end of the island. Enjoy!

We can tell it takes real care and a real concern for those who stay at Getaway. For which we applaud you, Tim. We've stayed at many houses in the Bahamas and in the Caribbean and we can say, without exaggeration, that this one was one of the best.

Everything one needs for a comfortable and tasteful stay, whether one week or many, is pleasurably provided. We loved the kayaks and were on them every morning on that great peaceful, immaculate sea. Thanks for all the entertainment facilities and the maps and island information. And let us just steer any future renters to a couple of real wonderful people who enhanced our stay beyond expectation. They are Phil Neily and Karen Knowles in Current. Phil has the boat and Karen does the care of the house. Both longtime citizens of the Settlement of Current, and both part of the reason for an enhanced stay at Getaway. Thank you Karen and Phil for your friendship and your talents.
