Review 1: What an amazing trip. We don’t want to go home!! Karen and Pedro are amazing and your home is amazing! Thank you for everything! We will be back next year! Definitely the best stay in the 15 years we’ve been coming here! Thank you all!!

Review 2: We loved our stay so much and the house is beautiful! The pictures definitely do not even show how amazing it is! The two massive screened in porches were a wonderful place to sit back and relax. Great snorkeling right next to the house and we saw lots of rays and all kinds of fish. Karen and Pedro were also amazing and we plan to return next year! Thanks to Tim for sharing his beautiful home! We loved every second of our secluded vacation

“Beautiful home in a beautiful location! Steps away from your own private swim in the turquoise ocean, and sunsets were gorgeous from the porch or from the lounge chairs with a sunset view next to the ocean! The home has some great features like screened - in porches and outdoor shower, as well as plenty of space, beautifully decorated. Remote location is accessible by car, but we recommend a four-wheel drive or jeep. Not able to walk to town readily, nor is there anything to walk to (stores, restaurants). Grocery stores nearby are stocked with mostly canned foods and are more like what those coming from the USA would think of as a very small convenience store, not a big grocery store. Also, keep in mind when visiting this island, that emergency medical help is not readily available, so that may be a consideration. Otherwise, Current Settlement is definitely private and not a crowded or touristy location at all. The house itself is lovely! ”

As translated through "Google Translate" service:

A dream home, spacious, with attention to detail, overlooking the sea. To know that it is a bit far from everything, and that the services offered by the neighboring villages (lunch / dinner, shopping) are a bit modest: for the food, you need to have a certain spirit of adaptation. "Living" here was really nice for us.

13June18: ...everything was great. Wonderful house that provided all amenities needed. Plenty of towels which was great. Only thing lacking is a dryer. Washed once and it was hard to get things to dry. Personally I would clean back a bit of the ocean foliage for a bit more view, but not too much as the privacy is great. Thanks again.

20Jun18: This place was amazing! It has total privacy and allowed us to step back and reconnect with each other. The ocean looks like a swimming pool. Bring your snorkel set and enjoy! Pack bug spray with DEET. The non-DEET sprays didn't work for us. Note: You must be willing to cook some meals on this trip. Restaurants are few and far between. Grocery selection is limited and costly... Pack light on clothes. Nothing is dressy. Just wear a pair of flip flops, pack a couple swim suits and that's that

We certainly enjoyed our stay at the house, beautiful and well-organized!  We truly appreciated the beach book and got much more from the island than our first visit while anchoring our trip from Current which was just what we wanted this trip…off of the beaten path.

You have a beautiful setting there; some of the most interesting coral we explored (through to central Eleuthera) was just up from the house along the beach rock.  Thank you for the use of the kayak and a relaxing stay!  We will keep the Getaway on our minds if we return to the island…

“We spent one week at Getaway and had a wonderful time. The kayak worked out great and we were able to explore the hidden beaches and do a lot of snorkeling. Pedro (building manager) was very responsive to any of the concerns we had while we stayed there and all issues are resolved very quickly. If you want to be totally secluded... and away from beach vendors and all the hustlers that go with other popular tourist destinations this is the spot for you. Just make sure you stock up enough groceries to get through a week or however long you plan to stay, as restaurants are few and far between. I really have no complaints... other than I wish we had known that at this time of year the tide really never goes out... so the beach that is shown in the pictures does not really exist... but for us it was okay...we just had to be careful walking on the rugged coral... all said...it was perfect and we got a very nice suntan☺

We spent a lovely week in May 2018 at Getaway with our 2 young boys.
The place is just as the name implies, private and secluded, somewhere we could unwind.
It’s equipped with all the comforts of home, and some more that we don’t have!
There are 2 covered seating areas, one to the front and one to the rear, with the rear facing towards the sea, meaning evening times, we could enjoy the (amazing) sunsets as we ate.

There is a great bedroom overlooking the main room, which meant we could keep an eye on our eldest, and the master bedroom is huge.

The property has quite a bit of land, meaning the kids could explore the wildlife. We saw lots of lizards, a gigantic crab and even a snake.

Getaway is in the settlement of Current, which is a small community surrounded by beautiful beaches which we eagerly explored. Low tide means lots of sandbars to wade out to as well.

From Getaway we could then explore the island of Eleuthera, which is a great island with lots of places to venture to.

We had a lovely stay! The house is super and cosy. Exactly what we were looking for during our short holiday. The beach was particularly appreciated by our kids.

The car rental went also very smoothly.

Thanks again!

We loved the house. Reluctant to give a great review because we selfishly want it to be available for our next visit.
PROS:
- Private
- Well decorated, bright, modern & clean.
- Impeccably maintained house. Maintaining homes on Eleuthera is a challenge, we know how much work it takes.
-Kitchen well appointed for cooking.
- Nice views. Sunsets!
- Awesome bikes that are well maintained (a rare find!).
- Bathroom well supplied with soap & tissue.
CONS:
- Would be difficult for anyone mobility impaired due to steps & rocks to get into water. However there is a sand beach a 5 min bike ride away.
- Screen porch mesh is too big, so no see bugs can still get you. However to screen it in more would spoil view. It does keep out all the other sunset biters.

Thanks for sharing your family’s special space!
We relaxed to the max!

January 7th, 2024: We had an incredible stay at this beautiful villa on the sea! The kitchen was fully equipped with all the utensils and spices we needed. The veranda offered stunning sea views, and the owners even provided a helpful local guide. Being able to use their kayak and bikes was a fantastic bonus. The location was very private, and we would absolutely love to come back. Our favourite place so far in the Bahamas!

Hi Tim, Thank you so much for letting us stay at your beautiful place! The pictures on Airbnb don't accurately portray the charm of your villa. It was a delightful surprise to discover that the place was much more beautiful than expected.

July 23rd, 2021:  We had a blast! This property is perfect for family fun and had everything we needed. The beach was perfect for relaxing and lots of ocean life to see while snorkeling. My son chased lizards around and enjoyed playing with the hermit crabs. We even caught and cooked up a very tasteful crab from the beach. When we arrived we were surprised to see the very tiny airport. Our cell phones did not work there and no one had any island maps. Be prepared to spend some money on groceries as they are VERY expensive and not much selection. Most of the places to eat out at all had the same food items and most do not have any atmosphere much less a place to sit down and eat. The only place we found that was decent was out by the glass window. Be prepared to drop $150 per meal for a family of 4 if you plan on eating out and expect chicken and hamburgers. We were a little disappointed that there wasn’t better island like restaurants. El Karaka Bar & Grill was fabulous and the view of the glass window and ocean is breathtaking. If you’re looking for more of a tourist area you will need to travel to Spanish Wells or Harbor Island.
